Conecuh County Sex Abuse Case DNA Results Released
DNA test results crucial to the prosecution's case against a Conecuh County couple are in.
The DNA testing shows that Glenna Cavender is the mother of both children she is accused of abusing. However, Jack Wiley is not the father of either child according to the test results.
Conecuh County District Attorney Tommy Chapman wanted the DNA to identify the couple's relationship with the children. There had been a fear at first that the children may have been kidnapped.
Chapman says the DNA evidence gives Cavender more credibility since she has claimed she was the mother of both children all along. Cavender says Wiley is the only one who has been abusing the children.
Wiley also claimed that he was not the father of either child. His statement is also now confirmed by the DNA testing.
The 48-year-old Wiley and 40-year-old Cavender are accused of abusing a 3-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. Wiley is charged with 2 counts of rape and one count of sodomy. Cavender faces 2 counts of child abuse.
The children are now in state custody.
