New DNA link allows arrest in 20-year-old double slaying
MERCED, Calif. Advances in D-N-A technology have allowed investigators to arrest a 41-year-old man in a 20-year-old unsolved double-murder.
Merced County Sheriff's officials say Robert Daniel Thompson, of Crescent City, was arrested Thursday in the 1986 deaths of 15-year-old and 12-year-old girls in 1986.
The girls died from blows to the head.
Sheriff Mark Pazin says D-N-A tests allowed them to link the deaths to Thompson, who served more than seven years in prison for a knifepoint kidnapping.
He's being held in Merced County.
