Last person in McDonald’s robbery gets 10 years
The Virginian-Pilot
SUFFOLK - The last of three men linked to the robbery of a McDonald’s through DNA left on unfinished burgers was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday.
On May 2, 2004 , Dexter Carlos Webb and two other Emporia men entered the fast-food restaurant on Holland Road just before closing time.
They ordered food, ate and waited for the dining room to empty.
The men then robbed the restaurant at gunpoint and forced the employees inside a walk-in freezer, police said.
Forensic technicians with the Suffolk Police Department collected DNA from the trio’s unfinished burgers and matched it to one of the men, who was listed in the state’s DNA registry of convicted felons.
Earlier this year, in an agreement with the state, Webb pleaded guilty to one count each of armed robbery and abduction, and two counts of using a firearm in a felony.
The other two men already had been sentenced for their role in the robbery.
On Dec. 9 , Marcellus Jones , who pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, received a 30-year sentence. Thomas Nelson Cribb IV was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Cribb testified against the other men involved, prosecutor Susan Walton said.
